Prerequisites
in order to understand the teaching contents and to achieve the learning objectives, at the beginning of the didactic activities fo it can be useful but not essentialfor the student to know the grammatical, lexical and syntactical basic elements of the English language . Prerequisites are not requested
Books
For the examination we suggest a theoretical deepening already from the beginning of the course attendance. For the purpose of consultation and in-depth analysis, the teacher uses e-learning platform; online Pubmed researches of recent scientific articles, Dictionary of basic dental terms: English-Italian / Italian English Lecture notes
Teaching mode
The teacher provides lectures with e-learning platform and traditional methods with audiovisual aids, online researches of scientific articles on pubmed and scheduling of lessons as reported on the website of the Dental Hygiene School.
Frequency
Following paragraph 5 of the Regulations of the Dental Hygiene School, the student is required to attend educational activities, formal, non-formal, vocational. The frequency is checked by the teachers through signature / updated lists provided by the Academic Office, as established by CCLID. The certificate of mandatory attendance to the teaching course is required to the student to be admitted at the final test.
Exam mode
To pass the exam the student has to reach eligibility. The student must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of oral hygiene topics in English, a basic knowledge of the medical-scientific terms in English and ability to read and translate a scientific English article and welcome in the English language the patient, provide oral hygiene instructions and visit him. The course includes the administration of multiple choice quizzes on the terminology as an intermediate trial lasting 30 minutes; a practical test of reception and management of the patient in English (duration 15 minutes), a practical test of reading and translating an abstract of a scientific article taken from pubmed in order to achieve the objectives set at the end of the course. The tests are evaluated overall, and frequency, active participation, reasoning and autonomous study skills are taken into consideration.
