Course program
The program of Infectious Diseases teaching is the following:
- general concepts related to infectious diseases
- HIV infection: epidemiology, clinical aspects, diagnosis and treatment, prevention
- Viral hepatitis (HAV, HBV, HCV, HDV, HEV): epidemiology, clinical aspects, diagnosis and treatment, prevention
- Central Nervous System infections
- Tuberculosis: epidemiology, clinical aspects, diagnosis and treatment, prevention
- Respiratory infections: bacterial pneumonia, COVID-19
- Urinary tract infections
- Herpes viruses infections: CMV, EBV, VZV, HSV1/2
- Nosocomial infections
- Vector Borne Diseases
Prerequisites
The student should be confident with the basic knowledge related to biology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology
Books
The didactic materials used for the course is provided to all students after each lesson, representing the source for the study course.
The suggested textbook is: "Compendio di Medicina Interna, Antonio Delfino Editore, Cap 1 (Malattie Infettive e Parassitarie, pagg 1-81)"
Teaching mode
The infectious diseases course will be provided in presence.
At the end of each lessons, all students will receive by e-mail the didactic materials used for the lesson in pdf format.
Exam mode
The evaluation of the students will be based on a written test (15 multiple choice questions) combined with the other subjects of the integrated course. Afterwards, for those who have passed the written test, there is the possibility of integration with an oral test.
The final vote will be the average of the votes obtained for each component of the integrated course; in case of a failure in one of the different written test of the integrated exam, it is possible to pass the exam only with the minimum grade (18/30).
