Presentation
The degree program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice the healthcare profession of midwife.
The midwife is a qualified and responsible healthcare professional who provides obstetric, gynecological, and neonatal care; their work is based on professional autonomy and independence.
The midwifes recognize the central role of the woman, the couple, the newborn, the child, the family, and the community, and provide care that meets their health needs. This is done through the exercise of functions within their competence in the prevention, treatment, protection, and restoration of individual and public health.
The care provided by the midwife is integrated with the work of other healthcare professionals, through specific intellectual and technical-scientific interventions in the areas of care, communication, education, and management, carried out responsibly, independently and/or in collaboration with other professionals.
In the exercise of their professional activities, the midwifes adhere to scientific knowledge and act in accordance with the fundamental principles of quality care and the regulations governing their professional functions, in order to ensure the appropriateness, equity, and safety of care.
The midwife promotes and carries out research in the field, both independently and in collaboration with others.
