Course objectives

he scientific English course will allow an easier interpretation of the medical records and will help to communicate correctly with doctors and patients. The main knowledge acquired will be: - grammar exercises generally required for an Intermediate / B1 level - Specific sexual inherent to the body, diseases, symptoms, etc. - Authentic material such as readings of articles related to the field of medicine -Questionaries of topics in the field of medicine -Contents of various types of clinical cards, including the most common abbreviations - Study of the ADL and their importance in clinical practice - Active Listening as a means of communication with the patient - Various phases of nursing planning Main skills: -The acquired linguistic knowledge involves an increase in personal security in communication that will lead to an improvement in the professional / patient relationship -The mastery of a specific vocabulary, especially referred to pain, combined with the ability to ask targeted questions, ensures a better understanding of the patient's problem - A good understanding in reading increases the ability to identify more quickly the key information of an article for a deeper and wider awareness of the relevant issues in the field of medicine -The ability to correctly interpret the questionnaires written in English will be useful for any translations to be applied in an Italian context - Knowledge of concepts and linguistic forms associated with active listening can be exploited in direct contact with the patient to improve communication relationships.
