Course objectives

Upon completion of this course the student shoulshould be able to:• Describe the characteristics of assisted with chronic-degenerative diseases and disability issues• Describe some phenomena of chronicity as chronic pain and suffering, fear, loss, hope, the meaning attributed to the death• Describe atypical presentations of the main acute and chronic diseases of the disabled assisted with particular reference to the geriatric age• Plan and implement capacity-building measures for adaptation of the person/family in relation to the residual energy, developing therapeutic education assistance, home care and rehabilitation training• Propose measures to improve the quality of life of patients with chronic-degenerative and problem in the terminal stage• Describe the development of palliative care in different contexts of hospital care, home, and community• Describe strategies to manage the care of patients in the terminal stage• Describe the major chronic conditions/disabilities• Describe some phenomena of chronicity• Use multidimensional assessment tools for the planning of the interventions• Nursing care plan for the elderly with chronic problems and permanent disabilities related to neurological problems• Nursing care plan for the elderly with chronic problems and permanent disabilities related to cognitive deficits• Nursing care plan for the elderly with chronic problems and permanent disabilities related to cardiovascular and respiratory problems• Nursing care plan for the elderly with chronic problems and permanent disabilities related to urological problems• Nursing care plan for the elderly with chronic problems and permanent disabilities Osteoarticular problems related• Recognize the elements of the relationship between physical environment and social environment• Describe the role of nurses in ensuring a safe living and therapeutic environment
