The studio is the site of application and verification of the knowledge acquired by students during the learning activities and the attendance of the first and second semester.

The course provides a unitary treatment of the mechanical behavior of deformable bodies modeled as Cauchy continuum, via the modeling of strain and stress aspects, along with the elastic behavior of materials. The study is focused on the theory of beams, presenting concepts and operational techniques concerned with the analysis of stresses, the evaluation of strength and deformability, and the analysis of structural stability. Analysis of buildings via a structural computer codes is addressed, in design terms, and the general issues of structural design and resistance in the elastic regime are presented.

The course provides the framework of the basic notions of evaluation, setting out recent theoretical-methodological developments at international level and the principles of sustainable development, and provide the theoretical-methodological tools for three area of operation: a) the valuation of real property, developed on scientific bases and extended to environmental, landscape and cultural heritage resources; b) feasibility studies of complex projects, carried out during the elaboration of the project and in the preliminary planning phase, the latter viewed as the strategic point with respect actualization of the project; c) valuation in the management of the process of settlement development: from project phase and execution of the works, to the operative phase.

The final exam consists of a thesis, elaborated individually with a single speaker or group of speakers co-ordinated within thesis laboratories, either a design or theoretical methodological (historical or technical) type, as a thorough development of the disciplinary content dealt with during the master degree course, even with the provision of interdisciplinary knowledge. It has to express technical and expressive maturity, as an original and updated contribution to the most advanced positions of the disciplinary debate. The final exam recognizes 14 CFU.
