Course program
First Part (32 hours) Sustainability and agriculture. The concept of sustainability and the importance of agriculture for sustainable development. The environmental, social and economic impact of agricultural activities. The effects on Nature, the environment and humanity. Agricultural production factors. The global agro-industrial system. Second Part (16 hours) Agricultural policies in the broader context of international policies: objectives, tools, main implementing actors. Third Part (24 hours) Main critical points and hidden costs of the agro-food production systems and consequent conditions for the development of agricultural and food activities at an international level (food security and sovereignty, malnutrition, food waste and loss, environmental problems, poverty, migration, land grabbing, agricultural and food use of GMOs and NBT).
