Objectives

The main objectives of the Course of Architectural Design Composition 3 (fourth year, 12 cfu) are the development in the student of coherent and autonomous design capabilities. This means the acquisition of the knowledge of theories, methods and languages of contemporary architecture. If the first objective can be accomplished through the activities that take place in the lab, the second one is developed during the lessons, intended to enlarge the knowledge of architectural culture, so to correctly orientate the design activities.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the ACA3 course, students should have acquired analytical, interpretative, and design skills and an awareness of:
- the importance of the relationship between context and design
- the concepts of urban morphology and housing typology and their close connection
- knowledge of different settlement types and the possibilities for social housing
- practical experience in the distribution and composition of interior spaces
- the importance of common, shared, and intergenerational spaces
- the importance of collective services and the possibilities for openness to the neighborhood
