ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY
Course objectives
The course aims to provide the student with the knowledge necessary to acquire the ability to understand electromagnetic interference phenomena of the conducted and radiated type at the basis of electromagnetic compatibility problems, methods for filtering disturbances and for low and high frequency shielding.

- Laboratory calculation: simulation of real components in the frequency domain; coupling models; simulation of overhead transmission liens; simulation of a coaxial cable above the ground plane; propagation in a coaxial cable; low-frequency and high-frequency crosstalk; filters; electromagnetic emission at low-frequency and high-frequency; radiated susceptibility, shielding effectiveness of flat screens.
- Laboratory measurements: scattering parameters of real components; propagation along transmission lines and crosstalk; emission and susceptibility of transmission lines; filters; antennas and sensors; shielding effectiveness measurements; radar absorbing materials.
Prerequisites
Fundamentals of Electrotechnics - EM field propagation.

Frequency
Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended.
Exam mode
Oral exam aimed at verifying the knowledge acquired by the student and the ability to analyze a problem of electromagnetic compatibility in the industrial field, outlining design strategies and technologies for protecting against electromagnetic interferences.
Lesson mode
The course takes place in traditional mode with theoretical lessons, calculation exercises and laboratory exercises.
