TECHNOLOGY OF PRODUCTION PROCESSES
Course objectives
The lessons are aimed to give the students the base knowledge of the behaviour of materials and of the production technologies, with particular emphasis to the mechanical industry.Risultati di apprendimento attesi (Inglese): The students will acquire the capacity of analyzing and managing a generic production process, with reference to mechanical ones in terms of mechanisms, process parameters, machines, obtainable results.

Course program
Materials: metal structures, state diagrams, mechanical tests, stress and deformation, strength of materials.
Foundry: ingot casting, continuous casting, solidification, shrinkage, sprues, foundry model, foundry techniques in transient mould and in permanent mould.
Machining: kinematics, dynamics, chip formation, forces, powers and machining parameters, type of tools, tool wear, optimization of cutting conditions, turning, milling, drilling.
