Course objectives

Intended learning outcomes Knowledge and understanding: On completion of the course, the students: - should have acquired deep knowledge of stylized facts and relevant data for macroeconomics; causes and effects of business cycle; macroeconomic policies and their effects in both closed and open economies; determinants of economic growth. Skills and abilities On completion of the course the students • should understand the nexus between main macroeconomic variables; • should understand the content of documents and articles on macroeconomic issues; Judgement and communication skills On completion of the course, the students should be able to critically assess the impact of macroeconomic shocks on a local and global scale. They also should be able to write reports and documents on macroeconomic issues by employing data, models and graphical analysis.

Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of mathematical analysis is required.

Frequency
Attendance is not mandatory but is encouraged.
Exam mode
The written examination consists of theoretical and descriptive questions on the topics covered in the course, as well as exercises designed to assess students’ ability to analyse real-world situations using macroeconomic analytical tools.
Lesson mode
Classes are held in person and mainly consist of content delivery by the instructor, supported by a multimedia board. Student participation and interaction are encouraged. Sessions also include dedicated time for solving exercises to prepare for the final exam.
