Course objectives

Intended learning outcomes Knowledge and understanding: On completion of the course, the students: - should have acquired deep knowledge of fundamental problems from microeconomics, such as consumer’s and firm’s choices, the functioning of markets and public policies. Skills and abilities On completion of the course the students • should show ability of evaluating policy decisions concerning resource allocation between different goods/services; • should be able to evaluate microeconomic policy decisions concerning prices, costs, consumption and production • should be able to evaluate public policies to overcome market failures and regulatory intervention. Judgement and communication skills On completion of the course the students • should have acquired the ability to employ microeconomic models for consumer theory, theory of the firm, different markets and welfare economics; • should be able to evaluate public policy decisions within a framework of models for demand and supply; • should be able to write reports employing microeconomic models and graphical analysis.
