Apprenticeship
Internship assignment and graduation application
The Internship
The Bachelor’s degree program includes an internship defended as the final exam during the graduation session.
The internship:
- is part of the academic credits (CFU) required by the study plan
- is compulsory to obtain the bachelor's degree title
- has a duration of about three months
- the curricular internship worth 15 ECTS credits requires a total of 375 hours.
- can be started during the second semester of the third year, once at least 126 CFU have been acquired including individual units not reported.
- must be completed before the graduation session
- is conducted under the guidance of a Sapienza faculty member (called the Internal Internship Supervisor) who oversees its progress and advises the student during the writing of the final report, signing the front page of the final report.
At the end of the internship, the student must write an internship report and send it via email to the Educational Affairs Office.
The internship can be
- external
- internal
- recognized as a result of an external work activity.
- An external internship is carried out at companies or institutions outside the University. The external internship is supervised by a tutor of the external organization (External Internship Supervisor) and a Sapienza faculty member (Internal Internship Supervisor). The external internship involves a training project submitted through the TSP Sapienza-Stage e tirocini platform and approved by the internship committee, whose coordinator is Prof. Daniele Gorla (gorla@di.uniroma1.it).
- An internal internship is carried out within a research group or with a Sapienza faculty member. This internship is supervised exclusively by a Sapienza faculty member (Internal Internship Supervisor). It consists of the completion of a project that has been mutually agreed upon with the supervisor.
- An internship recognized as a result of an external work activity involves the definition of a project agreed upon with the person responsible for recognition prof. Daniele Gorla, who evaluates the extra-university work activity or other activity consistent with the educational path. There remains the obligation of writing the internship report and completing the procedures to graduate. For this purpose, the student must directly contact Prof. Daniele Gorla (gorla@di.uniroma1.it), who, after proper evaluation, will assign an Internal Internship Supervisor who will follow the student during the project.
- 105 days: Request the internship assignment.
The internship must be assigned at least 105 days before the graduation session, regardless of its type.
All the templates needed for the internship assignment can be found in the attachments on the right and must be uploaded (in PDF format) using the following Google form: https://goo.gl/forms/kzYh7zgvCvKHFnyA2.
The period between the internship assignment and the submission of the internship report must be at least three months (90 days).
During this period, the graduating student must complete the internship report, written under the supervision of the Internal Internship Supervisor.
The remaining days are dedicated to graduation deadlines.
- 30 days: Perform the graduation application.
The graduating student must submit the application through the INFOSTUD 2.0 system 30 days before graduation, as indicated in the I3S faculty calendar for each academic year, available at https://i3s.web.uniroma1.it/en/programme-calendar.
The procedure to submit the graduation application on the Infostud Platform can be found at https://www.uniroma1.it/en/pagina/line-graduation-application
Notice: any request about the graduation application procedure and the academic career must be forwarded to the Information Engineering, Computer Science and Statistics Student Office, following the details found at https://www.uniroma1.it/en/pagina/information-engineering-computer-science-and-statistics-student-office.
The graduation application will be acknowledged by the Internal Supervisor, right after the deadline of the I3S faculty calendar.
The Educational Affairs Office will send an email with all the details of the following steps for the graduation process.
-15 days-approx: Send the internship report by email to the Educational Affairs Office, segr.didattica@di.uniroma1.it.
The internship report must not be uploaded to Infostud, but attached as a reply to the email received by the Educational Affairs Office.
The final internship report must be saved in a PDF file with the cover page signed by the graduating student and the Internal Supervisor. The PDF file must be named as follows:
- relazionetirocinio.lastname.pdf
For each graduation session, the deadlines for sending the internship report to the Educational Affairs Office are indicated in the calendar on the Graduation page.
- 7/5 days: Book the final exam and test your PC.
Near the graduation session, at least 5 days in advance, the Educational Affairs Office will publish the agenda of the graduation session, with details about the place and time.
Each admitted student must book the final exam on the Infostud platform like any other exam. This final exam corresponds to the discussion of the final report to be taken in the graduation session. The final exam is opened by the course president.
Graduating students will be contacted by technician Paolo Fontana (fontana@di.uniroma1.it) for a test of the presentation with the room appliances.
On the day of the graduation session

Graduate
The final examination represents an important individual educational opportunity that completes the academic program. It consists of the preparation, presentation, and discussion of a written report, independently produced by the student, which provides a structured and detailed account of the issue addressed during the internship and of all the activities carried out to reach a solution.
The discussion takes place before the Final Examination Committee, which determines the final degree grade based on the student’s academic record, the evaluation of the internship experience, the written report, and the oral discussion.

Course-specific Initiatives – Applied Computer Science and AI
Each year, the Department of Computer Science organizes the ITMeetings: structured encounters between companies operating in the IT sector and students and graduates of the Applied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence degree programs.
The ITMeetings are held twice a year—typically in June and December, close to the graduation sessions. These events welcome companies that either produce or heavily rely on IT solutions, active at the local, national, or international level.
During the meetings, participating companies present their business activities and introduce various collaboration opportunities, such as job offers, internships for Bachelor’s students, and thesis projects. Each edition includes a round table focused on current topics in the field of computer science, where companies share experiences and projects, encouraging a dynamic exchange with students and faculty on relevant educational and professional themes.
The day also features speed-date interviews—short, one-on-one meetings between company representatives and registered participants. These are valuable opportunities for direct contact, where companies can meet potential candidates and collect CVs. On average, each edition hosts around fifty individual interviews.
