ARCHAEOLOGY OF MEDIAEVAL PRODUCTIONS

Course objectives

The aim of the class is to present the wide range of the productions cycles and products in use and in circulation in the medieval age. In between late antiquity and the Middle Ages there is a profound change concerning the organization of work, the location of manufacturing, trade flows and the demand for artefacts. The main production cycles and the most important productions in pottery, metal, glass, bone and small findings will be examined in order to restore the complexity of the labour market and to encompass useful elements to understand the use and the social context witnessed by these materials.
