ARCHEOLOGY AND HISTORY OF IRAN
Course objectives
The course in Archeology and History of Iran aims to provide the student with the tools needed for a diachronic understanding of the development of the Iranian expanse from the arrival of the Indo-European people on the plateau until the fall of the Sassanian Empire. From a methodological point of view, we shall start from material culture, crossing the information, when possible, with the data transmitted in primary and secondary sources. By the end of the course, students should gain an independent understanding of the development lines of the material culture in the Iranian area as well as a preliminary knowledge of the major settlements and monuments.
