Literature Music Performing Arts

After having considered some fundamental principles of music (rhythm, meter, melody, polyphony, harmony, form, concert, author, performer-interpreter, audience), lessons provide general knowledge of a long period, from Middle Age to Twentieth Century, with special attention to the relationship of music with history of literature and history of culture with examples drawn from historical witnesses. Several examples from the historical repertoire will be examined, according to the following division: music in Dante age (first poliphonies, Troubadours, Ars nova). music before 1600 (before the madrigal. madrigal up to Monteverdi). musical theater (birth and baroque opera). music and classicism, music and romanticism (Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms). romantic opera and music drama (Verdi, Wagner, Puccini, Strauss). the age of the first Avant-gardes (Debussy, Stravinskij, Schoenberg).
