Course regulations

Lettere Classiche Degree Programme
Class: L-10

a) The Degree Programme consists of a single curriculum.
b) The courses that make up the study paths are published in the Programme regulations, along with their scientific-disciplinary areas and any division into modules.
c) The courses and the credits assigned to them are also published in the Programme regulations.
The Degree Programme does not require any prerequisites.
(d) The elective activities chosen by the student and the corresponding number of credits are published in the Programme description.
(e) Procedures for transferring from other programmes are governed by the University regulations for the current academic year.
(f) The teaching method is conventional. Depending on the subject, assessment methods may include oral and/or written exams and/or other forms of evaluation.
(g) The Degree Programme appoints one or more instructors to assess foreign language proficiency. The relevant credits are listed in the curriculum.
(h) The Degree Programme appoints one or more instructors responsible for assessing other skills. The relevant credits are listed in the curriculum.
(i) The Degree Programme appoints one or more professors responsible for verifying the results of any internships, traineeships, or periods of study undertaken abroad. The related credits are listed in the Programme Guide.
(j) Any other provisions regarding student obligations are listed in the Charter of Student Rights and Duties, which is available at: https://www.uniroma1.it/it/documento/cartadei-diritti-e-dei-doveri-delle.
(k) The Degree Programme provides standard attendance methods. It also offers options for part-time students, as the course calendar and syllabus remain essentially unchanged from one year to the next.
(l) Following assessment, the Degree Programme recognises credits earned in other degree programmes at Sapienza or other universities, in accordance with the Programme Guide.
(m) Tutoring services are designed to guide and assist students throughout their studies, engage them actively in the learning process, and remove obstacles to successfully completing the course. These services offer initiatives tailored to the needs, aptitudes and requirements of each individual. Tutoring services collaborate with organisations that support the right to education, as well as with student representatives. This contributes to students’ overall cultural development and their full participation in university activities (Law 341/1990, Article 13).
(n) The Degree Programme states that courses worth at least 90 credits must be taught by professors or researchers with tenure in the relevant scientific fields, either at this University or at others, based on specific agreements between the universities involved. No professor or researcher with tenure is counted more than twice in total for courses taught at their own university and at others. To consult the list of lecturers, please refer to the Programme.
(o) Candidates must take a non-selective, compulsory test at the start of the Programme to assess their initial knowledge. If they achieve a lower score than specified in the announcement, the test will assign additional learning requirements (OFA). This online test (TOLC-SU) is administered via the CISIA IT platform. Candidates who achieve a lower score than the value specified in the announcement will be assigned an OFA relating to reading comprehension and Italian language proficiency. This OFA must be completed within the first year of the Programme. The OFA can be fulfilled in several ways:
- by taking a specific course (not mandatory but highly recommended) and passing the relevant test organised by the educational institution, which certifies the achievement of specific skills in reading comprehension and Italian language proficiency;
- by passing one or more exams scheduled in the first year of the Programme and indicated by the educational institution. OFA requirements must be completed within the first year of the Programme.
Failure to complete the OFA will result in the inability to take exams in subsequent years. Full details of registration and testing procedures, the content of the tests, and the procedures for retaking and passing the OFA are available in the announcement published in the ‘Enrolment’ section of the Programme page at corsidilaurea.uniroma1.it, as well as on the University OFA page at uniroma1.it/it/pagina/obblighi-formativi-aggiuntivi-ofa.
