RESCUE ARCHAEOLOGY

Course objectives

The course aims to provide students with an Italian, European and world overview of the preventive archaeology concept, following its conceptual, regulatory and implementation developments. The theoretical and applicative principles a practice that is increasingly becoming one of the cornerstones of the archaeological discipline will be examined. The course aims to analyse the main methodologies used and usable in the field of preventive and/or emergency archaeology based on current legislation and the potential of new technological applications. The lectures will be accompanied by seminars and interventions, with discussion, by representatives of the protection and enhancement bodies and professionals in the sector.

The course is mutuated form the course of METHODOLOGY OF THE EXCAVATION AND ADVANCED ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH
Prerequisites
Acquisition of knowledge, skills and competences (cultural, disciplinary and methodological).
Books
Further readings will be given at the beginning of the course and during the class.
Frequency
Attendance at the two scheduled weekly classes is strongly recommended but non-attendance programs will be available.
Exam mode
Students' evaluation will be based on specific knowledge (30%); active involvement in classes (20%); reasoning (30%); learning and communication skills (20%).
Lesson mode
The lessons will be held in the classroom with the help of ppt presentation. According to the situation will be organized specific visits and / or contributions of colleagues and professionals in the archaeological world.
