### Study periods in European countries: Erasmus+
The Erasmus+ program promotes transnational cooperation among higher education institutions. It funds mobility for study purposes (SMS) across all disciplines and levels of study (including PhDs) and supports academic recognition of studies within the European Higher Education Area.
Erasmus+ allows students to attend courses and take exams with full recognition in their academic curriculum, or to carry out research for the preparation of their bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral thesis.

### Internships in European countries: Erasmus+ Traineeship
Erasmus+ traineeship mobility enables students to undertake internships at companies, training centers, and research institutions located in participating countries.
The program allows students to carry out full-time traineeships abroad, recognized as an integral part of their study program. Internships may also be completed after graduation, provided that selection takes place before obtaining the degree.
The duration of traineeship mobility is added to Erasmus study mobility periods, up to the maximum allowed by the program.

### European University Alliance CIVIS – “A European Civic University”
Sapienza is a partner of the CIVIS Alliance, funded by the European Union, together with several universities, including:

* National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
* University of Bucharest
* Stockholm University
* University of Glasgow
* Paris Lodron University of Salzburg
* University of Lausanne
The alliance offers a variety of shared study programs across 11 European campuses, aiming to build a true European Higher Education Area and contribute to a strong, multilingual knowledge society.
The training is research-based and includes innovative teaching activities, combining traditional Erasmus mobility with short-term, virtual, and distance mobility opportunities.

### Study periods in non-EU countries: Overseas Program
Thanks to funding from the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and university contributions, Sapienza offers students the opportunity each year to spend a study period abroad at one of over 200 non-EU institutions with bilateral agreements.
The Overseas mobility grant provides:
* €700 net per month for the first 5 months
* €500 net per month from the 6th month onward
The stay must last at least 90 consecutive days and up to a maximum of two semesters. The grant can be used only once per study cycle and cannot be combined with other Sapienza funding.

### Study or research in non-EU countries: Erasmus+ KA171 International Credit Mobility (ICM)
The Erasmus+ ICM program, funded by the European Commission, allows students and academic staff to carry out study, research, teaching, or training periods in non-EU countries.
It includes a scholarship and travel expense coverage. All activities completed abroad are recognized upon return according to the Learning Agreement.
Student mobility lasts from 3 to 6 months (extendable up to 12 months, with the last 6 months possibly without funding – “Zero-EU Grant”).
The grant also supports doctoral research mobility for the same duration. Travel costs are calculated based on distance using the Distance Calculator.

### Scholarships for thesis work abroad
These scholarships are available to students:
* enrolled in at least the first year of a master’s degree
* or in the final/penultimate year of a single-cycle master’s degree
They support thesis research carried out abroad at universities, institutions, companies, or international organizations.
The research period must last at least two consecutive months.
The scholarship amounts to €2,821 gross.
Awards are assigned through faculty-specific calls.

### Postgraduate scholarships for advanced training abroad
These scholarships allow graduates to attend advanced courses or training activities at foreign or international university-level institutions.
They are awarded annually and last from 6 to 12 months, with a monthly amount of €1,290 (tax-free).
They are reserved for graduates (Master’s or equivalent) from Sapienza who:
* obtained their degree within the previous academic year
* are under 29 years old

### COASIT: Italian Language Assistantships in Australia
In agreement with COASIT in Melbourne and Sydney, Sapienza offers assistantship grants to teach Italian in schools in the states of Victoria and New South Wales.
The call is open to graduates from the Faculty of Humanities who obtained their degree within the past 12 months. Requirements include:
* proficiency in English
* availability to work in Australia starting in April
* certification for teaching Italian as a foreign language

### International study programs (double/multiple degrees)
Sapienza promotes integrated study programs with partner universities abroad. These allow students to spend at least one semester abroad (earning at least 30 ECTS credits) and obtain, in addition to the Sapienza degree, a degree from the partner university/universities.
Mobility funding follows Erasmus+ rules or specific university calls.
This degree program offers the possibility of obtaining a **triple Italian-French-German degree**, subject to a specific selection process prior to enrollment.

In the past two years, meetings have been organized between students and the Department’s Erasmus+ and CIVIS coordinator to provide guidance and information on international mobility opportunities.
