Presentation
The Degree Programme provides advanced training in the philology and history of the ancient world, as well as in archaeology and medieval history.
There are distinct pathways, differentiated by the number of credits assigned to core subjects and the choice of related subjects.
All students undertake an in-depth study of the core classical studies subjects — Greek and Latin Languages and Literature, Classical Philology, and Greek and Roman History — to establish a robust foundation in these areas. The Programme incorporates instruction in a foreign language.
Although the primary delivery of these subjects will be via frontal instruction, the fundamental objective will be to cultivate students’ capacity for critical thinking and to encourage them to engage in independent research.
