Russian Translation - Advanced Course

Course objectives

This course aims to bring students to a high level of translation theory and practice. These scientific skills, applied to specific texts, are meant to cultivate the ability to develop a thesis on a topic chosen in the field of linguistics (also contrastive) or translation. Proficiency in the written and oral skills in Russian language aimed at reaching the C2- level.

Course program
The course aims to promote an approach to translation which integrates both theoretical and practical aspects, developing a series of transferable skills that can be brought to bear in a number of different contexts / text types. Particular attention will be paid to the concept of translatability, the limits of translating imposed by cultural differences and by the typological characteristics of the languages will be outlined and the different strategies aimed to translate the “untranslatable” will be discussed. The module will be taught in Russian. Due to the nature of the course, however, students must also have high levels of proficiency in Italian.
Prerequisites
C1 in Russian Language. Students must also have high levels of proficiency in Italian.
