Presentation
The degree program aims to provide students with advanced knowledge in a linguistic, literary and cultural area of Europe and the Americas, accompanied by written and oral proficiency in a first language and a good knowledge and consolidation of a second language, with a view to specialization in which, with appropriate guidance, students can embark on careers in three qualifying fields: philological-hermeneutic, literary, metalinguistic and intercultural research; literary and/or sector-specific translation; teaching. In all cases, the aim is to achieve a high level of theoretical and practical skills in the language, literature and specific teaching methods of the languages, literatures and cultures studied.
In addition to linguistic and literary specialization, the course structure provides a solid foundation through a methodological framework enhanced and enriched by: specific teaching methods for each language; awareness of the main critical trends in comparative literature; familiarity with the media and digital communication and their application to the cultural field; philological skills inherent to the languages studied; knowledge of language teaching in the most recent methodologies, including theory, history and translation teaching; in-depth study of Italian literature in its main lines of development or in teaching.
The course is supplemented by: methodology of literary analysis and text interpretation; historical, artistic and cultural contextualisation of literary works.
