The course offers an anthropological perspective on the following issues: the cultural and social shaping of human beings; the culturally determined definition and representation of the body, health and disease; the organic, experiential, social and political dimension of ailments, their etiology and the "sense" attributed to them; the therapeutic relationship and the effectiveness of curing acts.
