Course objectives

Basic knowledge of rights protection in the Constitution. Knowledge of constitutional organization of powers. Relationships between Italy and the European Union.

Course program
The teaching activity will focus on the following topics: - legal systems and the State; - forms of State and forms of Government; - the Italian legal system beyond state borders: the international and European dimension; - the historical evolution of the Italian state; - the fundamental principles of the Italian Constitution; - the electoral body; - Parliament; - President of the Republic; - Government, public administration, auxiliary bodies; - territorial autonomy; - sources of law (state, international, European Union, regional and local); - the judiciary; - the Constitutional Court; - the rights and duties in the Italian Constitution.
Prerequisites
During the lessons, the teacher will explain to the students presupposed and/or preliminary legal notions and questions with respect to the topics covered. However, there is no prerequisite for successful participation in the course and for passing the exam.

Frequency
Attendance at lessons is mandatory for at least two thirds of the scheduled time.
Exam mode
At the end of the course there is a final oral exam to verify knowledge of the contents of the programme, the ability to relate the different parts of the program, the clarity in the oral exposition. At the beginning of the course it will be scheduled an intermediate test for students interested in an ongoing evaluation.
Lesson mode
The didactic activity is provided through frontal lessons and seminar meetings in which the active participation of students is encouraged with reference to practical cases and specific situations.
