Educational objectives The course aims to provide an integrated perspective on psychopathology and psychosomatics, exploring the interactions between mind, body, and relationships in the processes of health and illness. Students will be introduced to classical psychosomatic models and their more recent developments, up to contemporary theories of mind–body functioning, such as the psycho-biological dysregulation model and Wilma Bucci’s multiple code theory. Particular attention will be devoted to the role of life events and relational dynamics in the construction and maintenance of health.
In parallel, the course will examine the psychological processes involved in the perception of medically unexplained symptoms, the mechanisms underlying placebo and nocebo effects, and the clinical potential of biofeedback techniques, with a focus on psychophysiological self-regulation.
By the end of the course, students will have acquired both theoretical and applied tools to understand and interpret psychosomatic phenomena in an integrated way, with special attention to the cognitive, emotional, and relational factors that shape the experience of illness and the processes of care.

Educational objectives The overall aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and methodological tools that allow knowing the different therapeutic approaches to psychopathology, as well as the salient aspects concerning evidence-based knowledge of psychopathology, favouring the development of critical skills. The laboratory will address the main basics of counselling (e.g. how to conduct a clinical and a motivational interview, active listening, counselling programs) through active learning, roleplaying, etc.
