The course provides in-depth knowledge of nuclear operating principles, systems and components, particularly regarding nuclear safety requirements for the whole plant.

Course program
Elements for the design of nuclear reactor components and loops (nuclear, thermal fluid-dynamics and technological aspects) for LWRs, HTGRs, and Liquid Metal Cooled FBRs. Advanced trends of nuclear design and research on ageing damages for NPPs to prolong their work life in safety conditions. Nuclear and thermo-mechanical design of fuel rods and rods assemblies. Pressure vessels in steel and pre-stressed concrete, thermal shields and internals. Steam generators, condensers and cooling towers. Control, instrumentation and radiation protection. Safety principles for NPPs. Accidents evaluation in thermal LWRs and in sodium FBRs.
