Course objectives

The course provides the concepts, theories and techniques for managing communication in the field of public relations and lobbying. The expected results include the ability to design and develop communication materials to support the representation of interest for companies and institutions.

Ability to get involved, curiosity about the world of politics and daily reading of the news.

Frequency
The course's primary goal is to provide practical tools for understanding and managing the productive routines of lobbying and the lobbying profession, politics, and interest representation as a typical tool of advanced and liberal democracies. For this reason, it makes extensive use of classroom exercises, with corrections discussed with the instructor and shared with the student group. Attendance is not only highly recommended but expected and will be rewarded. Attendance for 90% of the scheduled hours is required to be considered compliant.
Exam mode
Classroom exercises will form the basis for the weekly and biweekly assignments that students will bring back to class and share with their classmates and the instructor. The assignments contribute 80% of the final grade. Developing the ability to work in groups and teamwork will also be essential to achieving a good result. Collaboration skills will be evaluated alongside theoretical and practical skills. A project will be assigned to be developed during the course and presented during the final lecture in the presence of institutional representatives. The final exam will consist of a shared practical test presented in class. Students will work in groups designated by the instructor at the beginning of the exam.
Lesson mode
Biweekly practical exercises in the classroom, case studies, lectures by parliamentary representatives and local government administrators. Analysis of public affairs advocacy campaigns.
