Brief profile

Sergio Caprara is Associate Professor at the Physics Department of the University of Rome La Sapienza. His main expertises cover various fields of theoretical condensed matter physics, like superconductivity in low-dimensional and disordered materials, strongly correlated electron systems, systems with charge and spin density waves, spintronics. In recent years his research activity has focused on superconducting oxide interfaces with strong spin-orbit coupling and charge density waves in cuprate superconductors. In the years 2008-2011 he has been invited to spend 2 month each year at the Donostia International Physics Center in San Sebastian (Spain), on an international scientific collaboration on spintronics and topological matter. In the years  2014, 2017 and 2018 he has been Invited Professor on the Chair Joliot of the Ecole Superiéure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles, Paris (France).

He is author of more than 120 publications in international journals (with 8 publications on Nature and Science journals) and over 30 invited presentations to international conferences. He has been awarded the recognition of Outstanding Referee of the American Physical Society in the year 2019. He teaches Analytical and Relativistic Mechanics (2rd year Bachelor’s Degree in Physics) and Condensed Matter Physics (1st year Master’s Degree in Physics).
