SIMONE CAPUTO

Simone Caputo è Professore Associato nella Sapienza, Università di Roma. Svolge attività di ricerca nell’ambito della musica nelle culture di antico regime e contemporanee, dei Soundscape Studies e dei Music and Media Studies. Le sue recenti pubblicazioni includono il numero speciale di «Chigiana. Journal of Musicological Studies» dal titolo "Out of Nature: Music between Natural Sound Sources and Acoustic Ecology" (2020), la monografia "Dies irae. Requiem in musica dal Cinquecento all’Ottocento" (Neo-Classica, 2021), e il volume "Music, Place, and Identity in Italian Urban Soundscapes circa 1550–1860" (Routledge, 2023, con F. Piperno ed E. Senici). È capo redattore delle riviste musicologiche «Il Saggiatore musicale» e «Chigiana. Journal of Musicological Studies». È membro dell'International Sound Studies Forum e del Direttivo dell'ADUIM (Associazione fra Docenti Universitari Italiani di Musica), per cui coordina il gruppo di studio su “Musica, ambiente e sostenibilità”. È membro della rivista bimestrale “Gli asini”, rivista di cultura, politica, educazione e società, e fondatore di Chimera Fest (Casertavecchia), festival di linguaggi e saperi creativi.

Simone Caputo is an Associate Professor at Sapienza University of Rome. His research focuses on music within early modern and contemporary cultures, as well as on Soundscape Studies and Music and Media Studies. His recent publications include the special issue of "Chigiana. Journal of Musicological Studies" titled "Out of Nature: Music between Natural Sound Sources and Acoustic Ecology" (2020), the monograph "Dies irae. Requiem in musica dal Cinquecento all’Ottocento" (Neo-Classica, 2021), and the edited volume "Music, Place, and Identity in Italian Urban Soundscapes circa 1550–1860" (Routledge, 2023, with F. Piperno and E. Senici). He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the musicological journals "Il Saggiatore musicale" and "Chigiana. Journal of Musicological Studies". He is a member of the International Sound Studies Forum and of the Board of Directors of ADUIM (the Association of Italian University Music Professors), where he coordinates the working group on Music, Environment, and Sustainability. He is also a contributor to the magazine "Gli asini"—a journal of culture, politics, education, and society—and the founder of "Chimera Fest" (Casertavecchia), a festival devoted to creative languages and knowledge.
