Cdl Storia Antropologia Religioni e Lingue e Civiltà Orientali

Il corso introduce i principali sviluppi teorici e metodologici dell'antropologia e le sue diverse aree di analisi. Nel primo modulo del corso vengono esplorati i paradigmi e i metodi fondamentali dell'antropologia. Il secondo modulo approfondisce il quadro teorico dell'antropologia delle religioni esaminando temi quali la materialità, il rapporto tra religione e ambiente, il corpo e il sé, il genere, la possessione, i simboli e le pratiche rituali anche nel contesto dei processi transnazionali e globali. Il terzo modulo si avvale di attività pratiche, compresa l'etnografia visiva, per esaminare il rapporto tra religione, salute e benessere, al fine di apprezzare il contributo dell'antropologia alla ricerca interdisciplinare in questo campo.

Il corso sarà implementato attraverso lezioni frontali, dibattiti, film etnografici, dialoghi con ospiti esterni, esercitazioni pratiche e presentazioni individuali e di gruppo. La frequenza è vivamente consigliata così come la partecipazione attiva alle esercitazioni pratiche su Moodle e le discussioni in aula.

Non sono previste registrazioni delle lezioni.

Anthropology of Religion 10612212

Cdl Global Humanities

The course introduces the main theoretical and methodological developments in anthropology and its various areas of analysis. The first module of the course explores the main paradigms and methods of anthropology. The second module deepens the theoretical framework of the anthropology of religions by examining topics such as materiality, the relationship between religion and environment, the body and the self, gender, possession, symbols and ritual practices also in the context of transnational and global processes. The third module uses practical activities, including visual ethnography, to examine the relationship between religion, health and well-being, in order to appreciate the contribution of anthropology to interdisciplinary research in this field.

The course sessions combine lectures, discussions, ethnographic films, dialogues with invited guests, practical exercises, and individual and group presentations. Attendance is highly recommended as students are expected to contribute actively to practical exercises and class discussions.

Colonialism Post-Colonialism and Heritage 

The course introduces the major theoretical and methodological developments in the anthropology of religion and its main areas of analysis, with an emphasis on ethnography. The first module of the course introduces the history of anthropology and its methods, from colonialism to post-colonialism. The second module focuses on the theoretical framework of the anthropology of religion exploring case studies of religious heritage, materiality, historicity, as well as symbols and ritual practices, including an analysis from the stance of transnational and global processes.

This is a 3-credit course, students will attend the first 11 classes of the course Anthropology of Religion, then they will complete the additional 3-credits by attending the course Colonialism, Post-Colonialism and Heritage in Near Eastern Studies (Prof. Silvia Alaura) which will be held in the 2nd semester. 

Exams

Oral exam to be booked on Infostud as part of Prof. Silvia Alaura's course on Colonialism, Post-Colonialism and Heritage in the Near-East (2nd semester). Richieste di tesi

Possono essere proposti progetti di tesi su tematiche relative a: religione, spiritualità, possessione, corpo, malattia e cure (tradizionali, biomediche, complementari o alternative).

La richiesta deve essere inviata via email alla docente almeno sei mesi prima della sessione di laurea specificando: l'anno in cui si è frequentato il corso, sessione di laurea prevista, il titolo, una breve presentazione dell'idea progettuale (max. 500 parole), una bibliografia iniziale di riferimento e la sessione prevista per la tesi. Per lo stile di citazione bibliografica da seguire nella redazione della proposta e della tesi consultare il Chicago Manual of Style 16th ed.: https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-2.html. 

La/il laureanda/o deve aver sostenuto l'esame di Antropologia Culturale. 

Le tesi triennali prevedono l'elaborazione di una relazione scritta (indicativamente tra le 15 e le 30 cartelle di 2.200 caratteri, spazi e note inclusi) su un argomento concordato e interrogazione sul contenuto della relazione da parte della commissione designata. Si accettano inoltre i seguenti format sperimentali approvati dall'area didattica e in vigore nella coorte 2024-2026:

  • Compilazione di un repertorio bibliografico, o scheda di commento di uno o più volumi e articoli in varia misura attinenti a un argomento concordato con un docente di riferimento da discutere con la commissione.

  • Esposizione di un argomento basato su di una relazione scritta, concordata con un docente di riferimento, eventualmente tramite l’ausilio di strumenti quali presentazioni elettroniche o hand-out o altri supporti audiovisivi da discutere con la commissione.

Thesis proposals

Thesis proposals may address the following thematic areas: religion, spirituality, possession, body, illness and healing.
