Curriculum

Antonello Rizzi received his Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza.” He was appointed Assistant Professor in September 2000 and, since 2010, has been with the Department of Information Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications (DIET) at Sapienza University of Rome. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor within the same department.

His primary research interests lie in the fields of computational intelligence and pattern recognition, with a focus on both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques, including neural networks, fuzzy systems, and evolutionary algorithms. His work is centered on the development of automatic modeling systems for classification, clustering, function approximation, and prediction tasks.

He is actively involved in research on smart grids and microgrid modeling and control, battery management systems, granular computing, data mining and knowledge discovery, computational biology, machine learning in non-metric spaces, graph and sequence matching, agent-based modeling of complex systems, and parallel and distributed computing.

Dr. Rizzi has (co-)authored over 230 peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. He has been a Senior Member of the IEEE since 2017.
