Temi di ricerca:
Giorgio Giardina è un biologo strutturale, attualmente lavora sulla caratterizzazione strutturale e funzionale di:
1. Proteine da Pseudomonas aeruginosa coinvolte nel metabolismo di secondi messaggeri coinvolti nella virulenza e nella regolazione della formazione di biofilm.
2. Enzimi PLP dipendenti coinvolti in diverse patologie umane e nella riprogrammazione metabolica delle cellule tumorali.

Educazione:
Giorgio Giardina ha conseguito la Laurea in Chimica nel 1999. Nel 2003 ha iniziato a lavorare come biologo strutturale presso il Dip. di Scienze Biochimiche dove ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in Biochimica (cristallografia di proteine) nel 2007.
Inoltre nel 2011 ha conseguito un Master in Hypergraphics presso La Quasar Design University di Roma, e lavora anche come illustratore scientifico, grafico e artista freelance (http://www.giorgio-giardina.com/)

Current research topics:
Giorgio Giardina is a structural biologist, his current research topics focus on the structural and functional characterization of:
1. Proteins from Pseudomonas aeruginosa respectively involved in the metabolism second messengers involved in the regulation of virulence and biofilm formation.
2. PLP dependent enzymes involved in human diseases and cancer cell metabolism reprogramming.

Education:
Giorgio Giardina earned his Master degree in Chemistry in 1999. IN 2003 he started working as a structural biologist at the Dep. of Biochemical Sciences were he earned his PhD in Biochemistry (protein crystallography) in 2007.
He also holds a Master in Hypergraphics, earned at Quasar Design University of Rome in 2011, and works as a freelance scientific illustrator, graphic designer and artist (http://www.giorgio-giardina.com/).
