RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research activity is essentially aimed at the study of rock mechanics, with particular focus on: 1. conditions leading to the nucleation of earthquakes, 2. the consequent variations in the physical-mechanical characteristics of the involved lithologies during the entire seismic cycle, and 3. the variation of the physical properties of rocks in the presence of fluids.
TECHNIQUES

  • Structural Geological Survey
  • Triaxial and Uniaxial Deformation Tests
  • Acoustic Emission recording during sample deformation (micro-earthquakes)
  • Permeability tests and velocity measurements at high confining pressures using pressure vessels
  • Ultrasonic velocity measurements and seismic anisotropy measurements
  • Fracture density analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM and feSEM)
  • Well log analysis
