RESEARCH TOPICS
He always worked in the field of population and computational genomics.
His research activity is based on the study mammal’s genomic variation, with different approaches and aims:
- Analysis of the Y-chromosome genetic variation in human populations using classical and NGS techniques. The study is aimed at inferring evolutionary events that occurred in the past in our species.
- Analysis of the non-pathological genetic variation of the human genome to solve forensic genetic issues.
- Analysis of data from Whole Genome Sequencing.
- Study of the role of natural selection in shaping the genetic variability of the mammal genomes.
- Genetic analysis of ancient populations of central Italy.
- Conservation genomics of mammals. Analysis by whole genome sequencing of Asiatic lion (Panthera leo persica) and orangutan (Pongo spp).
- Computational genomics
His research activity is documented by a total of 41 papers in extenso. The results of some studies have been subject of comments and articles on various international and national newspapers.
