The course Archive, library and museum studies for the performing arts will begin on Tuesday, 4 November 2025 and will be held in Aula B, ex Vetrerie Sciarra (RM103), on Tuesdays and Fridays from 16.00 to 20.00.

Aldo Roma è assegnista di ricerca all’Università Roma Tre nell’ambito del PRIN 2022 Donne, teatro, fascismo diretto da Mirella Schino, e insegna Discipline dello spettacolo alla Sapienza Università di Roma, dove ha conseguito nel 2016 un dottorato di ricerca in Musica e spettacolo e nel 2023 un diploma di specializzazione in Beni archivistici e librari.
È stato titolare di borse di studio, assegni e contratti di ricerca all’Università di Amsterdam, all’École française de Rome (nell’ambito del programma di ricerca ERC PerformArt diretto da Anne-Madeleine Goulet), alla Sapienza Università di Roma e all’Université de Liège (nell’ambito del progetto FNRS De l’exercice d’un pouvoir culturel. Le mécénat musical des cardinaux protecteurs de couronne à Rome au Seicento diretto da Émilie Corswarem). Fa parte del comitato di redazione delle riviste «Biblioteca Teatrale» (Bulzoni), «SigMa. Rivista di letterature comparate, teatro e arti dello spettacolo» (Fondazione Sigismondo Malatesta ETS - Federico II University Press), «Teatro e Storia» (Bulzoni) e «Il Saggiatore musicale» (Leo S. Olschki).
Le sue ricerche hanno riguardato soprattutto lo spettacolo tra Cinque e Settecento (con particolare riferimento alla filologia, alla drammaturgia e alla storia materiale del teatro e del teatro musicale a Roma) e l’amatorialità a teatro in età moderna e nel Ventennio fascista. Si interessa inoltre di problemi della regìa d’opera contemporanea; di teatro sociale e del teatro della comunità sorda italiana; della tutela e valorizzazione degli archivi dello spettacolo. Su queste tematiche ha pubblicato diversi articoli in riviste, contributi in volume e curatele, la monografia “San Bonifazio” di Giulio Rospigliosi (1638). Un melodramma nella Roma barberiniana (Bulzoni, Roma 2020) e l’edizione critica dell’Amor pudico (1614) di Iacopo Cicognini (Accademia nazionale dei Lincei - Bardi Edizioni, Roma 2023).

Aldo Roma is a postdoctoral research fellow at Roma Tre University within the 2022 PRIN project Women, theater, fascism, directed by Mirella Schino, and teaches Theatre Studies at Sapienza University of Rome, where he obtained a PhD in Music and performing Arts in 2016 and, in 2023, a Specialization Diploma in Archival and library science.
He has held research fellowships and research contracts at the University of Amsterdam, at the École française de Rome (within the ERC research programme PerformArt directed by Anne-Madeleine Goulet), at Sapienza University of Rome, and at the Université de Liège (within the FNRS project De l’exercice d’un pouvoir culturel. Le mécénat musical des cardinaux protecteurs de couronne à Rome au Seicento, directed by Émilie Corswarem). He serves on the editorial boards of the journals Biblioteca Teatrale (Bulzoni), SigMa. Rivista di letterature comparate, teatro e arti dello spettacolo (Fondazione Sigismondo Malatesta ETS - Federico II University Press), Teatro e Storia (Bulzoni) and Il Saggiatore musicale (Leo S. Olschki).
His research has focused primarily on performance between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries (with particular reference to philology, dramaturgy, and the material history of theatre and musical theatre in Rome) and on amateur theatre in the early modern period and during the Fascist period. He is also interested in questions of contemporary opera stage direction; in applied theatre and theatre of the Italian Deaf community; and in the protection and promotion of performing arts archives. On these topics he has published several articles in scholarly journals, book chapters and edited volumes, the monograph “San Bonifazio” di Giulio Rospigliosi (1638).
