ELS – EUROPEAN LAW SCHOOL – JURISTE EUROPÉEN

RESPONSABILE: PROF. LAURA MOSCATI

The European Law School is a training course founded in 2006 by the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, the Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II) and the King's College of London; La Sapienza joined in 2012 and the Universiteit von Amsterdam in 2014.
The course is divided into three years at La Sapienza and two years at two of the partner universities. At the end of the course four different degrees are obtained: the Master's Degree in Law, the master's degrees of the two foreign universities attended (Master 2 spécialité "Juriste Européen" of the University Panthéon-Assas; Master of Laws LL.M. "Europàisches Recht und Rechtsvergleich" of Humboldt Universität; Master of Laws LL.M. of King's College; LLM of Universiteit von Amsterdam) and the European Comparative Law Certificate, an integrative diploma, issued by the network of the five universities.
In order to participate in the programme, it is necessary to apply for the competition: students can take part in the selection already during their second year of enrolment.
A maximum of eight students are selected each year; the selection procedure consists of the evaluation of the academic curriculum and an oral interview to verify the knowledge of the languages used in the selected universities. At the time of departure you must have completed the exams of the three-year period.
During their stay abroad, students will only be required to pay the normal registration fee at La Sapienza. There are no registration fees at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and the Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). Students are required to pay tuition fees at the King's College of London and the Universiteit von Amsterdam. There are financial contributions, financed through Erasmus contracts, for which it is necessary to participate in the annual call for applications.
The objective of the programme is to offer students a European preparation, with a broad international scope, aimed at the growth of a lawyer ready to deal with the supranational dynamics that the socio-cultural evolution requires.
Up to now, more than ten Italian students and over a hundred European students have taken part in the programme, who have found work in prestigious Italian and foreign institutions, in important international and national professional studios (e.g. BonelliErede) or who have continued their study and research activities, including abroad.
The programme is particularly suitable for those who intend to work in the legal professions, in public administrations, in private companies, in various fields of social, socio-economic and political activity and in the fields of comparative, international and community law, as well as in international organisations. The training programme is also very suitable for those who wish to continue their studies and research in legal subjects.
