Educational objectives The course aims to provide students with an interdisciplinary understanding of the principles of applied chemistry, materials science, and technological processes relevant to chemical engineering.
The course addresses the physico-chemical characterization of natural waters, the main water treatment processes, and cementitious materials, providing students with the tools needed to understand the relationship between composition, structure, properties, performance, and technological applications.
Particular attention is devoted to understanding the criteria for technology selection, evaluating the performance of materials and processes, and applying the acquired knowledge to the solution of typical chemical engineering problems.
Through applied exercises, real-world case studies, and collaborative activities, the course also aims to develop students’ critical analysis skills, their ability to select appropriate technological solutions, and their ability to effectively communicate technical and scientific concepts.
