La laurea Magistrale in Cognitive Neuroscience è indirizzata a studenti interessati alla comprensione dei correlati neurali dei processi cognitivi ed alla relazione tra lo sviluppo delle funzioni psichiche e del cervello. Lo scopo di questo Master è formare Psicologi dotati di una laurea di primo livello offrendo loro competenze nell’ambito delle neuroscienze cognitive, della psicologia cognitiva, della neuropsicologia dello sviluppo con interesse anche ai metodi di brain imaging e di stimolazione cerebrale. Il corso forma studenti in grado di eseguire una valutazione cognitiva e svolgere attività di ricerca nell’ambito delle neuroscienze cognitive, affettive e sociali offrendo insegnamenti di alto livello con un ampio spazio dedicato all’attività pratica in contesti didattici e in laboratorio con supervisione. La tesi di laurea sperimentale può essere svolta presso il Dipartimento di Psicologia o presso gli Enti e le Istituzioni esterne che collaborano al progetto di laurea.
In particolare, questo Corso di Laurea Magistrale offre competenze per la valutazione delle funzioni cognitive adulte ed in età evolutiva, per l’individuazione precoce dei disturbi cognitivi legati ad alterazioni acquisite o del neurosviluppo, al fine di identificare un percorso riabilitativo ottimale basato sugli sviluppi della ricerca corrente. Il Corso presenta una proposta di intervento aperta alle problematiche emergenti in Nazioni in via di sviluppo e mira a sviluppare conoscenze teorico-pratiche avanzate in ambito neuropsicologico, cognitivo e psicobiologico. Al termine del Corso di Laurea Magistrale gli studenti riceveranno il titolo professionale di Psicologo dopo il completamento del Tirocinio Pratico Valutativo (TPV) ed il superamento dell’esame relativo al tirocinio professionalizzante (Prova Pratica Valutativa).
Il Corso di Laurea Magistrale offre dodici corsi specifici (4 fanno parte di due gruppi opzionali) di alto livello (84 CFU). Gli accertamenti sono eseguiti secondo le modalità indicate nei programmi dei singoli corsi. Sono previsti accertamenti in itinere ed esami finali nella forma di test, esami orali, preparazioni e discussione di tesine con l'aiuto di power point, attività pratiche guidate, journal club.
Ogni "scheda insegnamento", in collegamento informatico al Quadro A4-b, indica, oltre al programma dell'insegnamento, anche il modo cui viene accertata l'effettiva acquisizione dei risultati di apprendimento da parte dello studente.
Tutte le attività rivolte a studenti italiani e stranieri sono in Inglese. Agli studenti stranieri non è richiesto un livello B2 in Italiano, ma tutti gli studenti devono avere un livello B2 in Inglese.

The master course in Cognitive Neuroscience is particularly suited to students interested in understanding the neural correlates of cognitive processes as well as the relationship between the development of the mind and the brain. The aim pf the program is to train psychologists with a 3 years bachelor in the fields of cognitive, affective and social neuroscience, cognitive psychology and developmental neuroscience as well as providing them with hands-on training in imaging brain stimulation methods. The course trains students to perform a cognitive evaluation, and carry out research in cognitive, affective and social neuroscience offering high-level teaching, large space to practical supervised activity in didactic and professional labs and the possibility to carry out an experimental thesis at the research labs of the Department of Psychology of Rome and in partner institutions.
In particular, the master course offers competences for the evaluation of cognitive abilities in adulthood and during development and the early individuation of cognitive disturbances due to alterations of neurodevelopment or acquired, identifying the rehabilitative actions based on current up-to-date knowledge. It presents an intervention perspective also open to collaborations on issues relevant for developing countries. The master aims to develop advanced theoretical and applied know-how on research methods in Neuropsychology, Cognitive Psychology and Psychobiology. At the end of this master students will receive a professional title of Psychologist after completing a practical training (TPV) and the State exam (PPV).
The master features twelve courses that offer a high level of specific preparation (84 CFU). The course evaluations will take place according to what specified in each class syllabus. Courses are taught in English for both Italian and foreign students. Students have a waiver for the B2/C1 level in Italian, otherwise required by La Sapienza for Masters in Italian. In this case students will be required to have a B2 level in English.

REGOLAMENTO
PRESENTAZIONE PERCORSI FORMATIVI INDIVIDUALI
Tutti gli studenti, a seguito dell’immatricolazione, sono tenuti a compilare il percorso formativo individuale secondo le scadenze che saranno indicate sul sito web di Facoltà. In tale percorso dovranno essere indicate le proprie scelte per quanto riguarda eventuali percorsi suggeriti, gruppi opzionali obbligatori e per gli esami extracurricolari (a scelta dello studente). Senza la presentazione del percorso formativo individuale la prenotazione di tali insegnamenti opzionali/a scelta sarà inibita e non sarà possibile sostenere i relativi esami. Tutti gli altri esami obbligatori potranno essere regolarmente prenotati e sostenuti.
Il percorso formativo individuale deve essere compilato includendo le scelte anche per le annualità successive alla prima, ma tali scelte potranno essere successivamente modificate all’inizio del secondo anno.

REGULATION
INDIVIDUAL STUDY PLAN
Students, after their enrolment, need to compile their study plan following the deadlines of the Faculty. In the study plan students must indicate their optional exams and extracurricular integrative ones. Without this study plan, optional/integrative exams cannot be taken.
The study plan needs to be filled by also selecting second year exams although these can be changed at the beginning of the second year.

Per l'accesso alla laurea magistrale è richiesto a:
Cittadini di paesi non Unione Europea stabilmente residenti all’estero in possesso di visto di studio per l’a.a. di riferimento per “immatricolazione ateneo”:
- Laurea di primo livello in Psicologia (bachelor) o altro titolo accademico conseguito all'estero riconosciuto equivalente in base alla normativa vigente;
- Conoscenza della lingua inglese di livello B2 certificato (ESOL, IELTS, TOEFL);
- Lettera di pre-accettazione del corso di laurea ottenuta tramite applicazione a https://www.uniroma1.it/en/admissions;
- Applicazione on-line a Universitaly attraverso il portale https://www.universitaly.it/, per la richiesta del visto/permesso di soggiorno.

Cittadini italiani, i cittadini comunitari ovunque residenti ed i cittadini di paesi non Unione Europea regolarmente soggiornanti in Italia di cui all’art. 26 della Legge n. 189/2002:
- Laurea di primo livello in Psicologia o di vecchio ordinamento quinquennale in Psicologia o altro titolo accademico conseguito all'estero riconosciuto equivalente in base alla normativa vigente;
- Conoscenza della lingua inglese di livello B2 certificato (ESOL, IELTS, TOEFL).
La verifica della preparazione personale avverrà a seguito di una procedura concorsuale basata sul precedente curriculum degli studi.

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
Candidates with Italian citizenship, and candidates with EU citizenship or non-EU candidates legally residing in Italy (EU citizens and equated non-EU citizens) as per art. 26 of Law no. 189/2002 must have the following requirements at the deadline indicated in the yearly course application call:
- bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a five-year degree of the old academic system in Psychology or any other title of study achieved abroad and recognised as being equivalent to the bachelor’s degree in Psychology;
- advanced English language level (at least B2).

Non-EU candidates residing abroad who apply for the student visa, including the Chinese students participating in “Marco Polo” Project who, at the deadline indicated in the yearly course application call, have the following requirements:
- titles of study and curricular requirements declared as equivalent to those listed above (for foreign titles of study, see Annex below);
- advanced English language level (at least B2);
- pre-acceptance letter for the degree programme in Cognitive Neuroscience after applying through the special pre-selection portal at https://www.uniroma1.it/en/admissions and confirmation of acceptance for the invitation included in the letter. Sapienza prior acceptance enables students to apply for student visa but does not entitle them to its obtainment;
- online pre-enrolment application to obtain the “University enrolment” student visa for the relevant academic year, to be requested through the Universitaly portal at https://www.universitaly.it/, filled in and submitted mandatorily by the yearly deadline specified in the course application call. It is mandatory to pre-enroll through the Universitaly portal in order to obtain the student visa.

Please note: pre-enrolment does not allow admission to degree programmes. To enrol, students must successfully complete the procedures provided for by Sapienza for the degree programme of choice.

Pease note: to complete the registration procedures, successful non-EU applicants permanently residing abroad will have to submit:
- entry visa for study purposes “University enrolment” for the relevant academic year;
- a copy of the receipt for the application for a first residence permit for study purposes.

ANNEX
Candidates holding a foreign title of study who intend to enroll must Scan the following documents into a single pdf file:
- a valid identity document (all candidates);
- entry visa for study purposes “academic enrolment” (academic year 2023-2024 for citizens of non-EU countries resident abroad and applicants for study visas, and academic year 2022-2023 for Chinese students of the Marco Polo programme) issued by the Italian Representation in the country of last residence;
- copy of the receipt of the application for the first residence permit for study purposes (only for nationals of non-EU countries residing abroad and study visa applicants);
- valid residence permit and, if applicable, receipt of submission of the renewal application (only for non-EU citizens legally residing in Italy and for Chinese students in the ‘Marco Polo’ programme);
- a university degree (achieved after fifteen years of school attendance, out of which at least three at university level) together with the Certificate of exams issued by the university, accompanied by a sworn translation into Italian or into English and by the Statements of Comparability and Verification issued by CIMEA. Upon request of the above Statements on the DiploME webpage, candidates must upload the documents relating to their full school career, including their upper secondary school diploma, so as to obtain a full assessment of their entire career;
In replacement of the Statement of Comparability, candidates may submit the Declaration of Value (DoV) issued by the Italian Embassies or Consulates of the country in which their title of study has been achieved.
In such event, the titles of study submitted, including the transcript of records, must be legalised or apostilled.
It is also mandatory to submit a Declaration of Value per each title: one for the upper secondary school diploma and one for the university degree. A single DoV may be issued only if the two titles of study belong to the same academic system and if the declaration carries the value of them both.
In case of enrolment in degree programmes exclusively held in English, if the university degree has been issued in English, no sworn translation into Italian will be required, though submission of the Statements of Comparability and Verification issued by CIMEA, or of the legalised or apostilled Declaration of Value, will remain mandatory.

CARATTERISTICHE DELLA PROVA FINALE
La prova finale consiste nella presentazione e discussione dell'elaborato di un lavoro di tesi di laurea magistrale (presentato secondo le modalità stabilite dalla Facoltà) di fonte ad una Commissione nominata secondo le norme di Ateneo. La tesi, realizzata con la supervisione di un docente del corso, esporrà sotto forma di resoconto scientifico originale, una ricerca empirica pertinente agli obiettivi formativi del corso. L'impegno personale per la stesura del lavoro di tesi – che dovrà comprovare le competenze teoriche e metodologiche acquisite dal candidato nel corso delle attività formative - sarà commisurato ai crediti formativi attribuiti a questo lavoro finale. La prova finale è preceduta inoltre dall’accertamento delle competenze acquisite attraverso il TPV, mediante una Prova Pratica Valutativa (PPV) secondo le leggi e regolamenti vigenti.

FINAL THESIS
The final thesis consists in a written essay and an oral presentation of the student's original work (as for the Faculty regulations) in front of a committee nominated as for the regulations of the Faculty. The thesis must be performed under the supervision of a teacher of the master programme and must be an experimental work within the scientific area of the master programme. The work of the student must be related to the credits attributed to the final thesis. Before discussing the thesis, students will need to pass an evaluation concerning the skills obtained during the mandatory traineeship (TPV) following the existing regulations and laws.
