Curriculum

Livio Pedone is an Assistant Professor (RTD-A) in Structural Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome, within the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. He holds a PhD in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering (2023, cum laude) and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering (2019), both from Sapienza University of Rome. During his PhD, he was also a visiting researcher at University College London (UCL) in 2021.
His research interests include seismic risk assessment, residual capacity evaluation of damaged buildings, integrated seismic-energy retrofitting strategies, and performance-based earthquake engineering. He has co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings, and has presented his work at major international conferences in the field of earthquake engineering. He has contributed to numerous national and European research projects, including those funded under the PNRR, Horizon Europe, and the Italian Civil Protection Department.
Currently, Livio Pedone teaches the course “Principi di Progettazione Strutturale” (Structural Design Principles) at Sapienza University of Rome, within the Bachelor’s program in Ingegneria dell'Innovazione Tecnologica per l'Edilizia. He is also actively involved in teaching support and mentoring activities in the fields of structural and seismic engineering.
