
Curriculum
Serena Olcuire is a post-doctoral researcher and adjunct professor in the Department of Civil, Building, and Environmental Engineering at Sapienza University. With a background in architecture and planning, she specialises in qualitative research methods. Her research addresses various forms of spatial exclusion, both from a theoretical standpoint and through research-action approaches.
A member of LabSU-Laboratorio di Studi Urbani “Territori dell’Abitare” (DICEA-Sapienza), she currently coordinates the Quarticciolo Neighbourhood Lab in Rome, where she experiments with new forms of weaving between self-organisation and co-creation.
She is engaged in research on Italy’s inner areas through her collaboration with the Environmental Humanities Postgraduate Program at Roma Tre University, and investigates the intersections of gender and urban studies, through her participation in the Atelier Città of Iaph Italia. She is part of the editorial board of the scientific journal Tracce Urbane / Urban Traces.
She obtained the national scientific qualification for the position of associate professor in the academic sector 08/F1 - Urban and Territorial Planning and Design.
She has written monographs and articles in national and international journals.
