Attività di ricerca
Studio della trasmissione di calore per convezione naturale e forzata mediante calcolo alle differenze finite per la risoluzione numerica di campi termofluidodinamici basati sull’algoritmo SIMPLE (Semi Implicit Method for Pressure Linked Equations) e SIMPLE-C per diversi fluidi, condizioni al contorno e configurazioni di scambio termico: entro cavità, da piastre inclinate, da tubi orizzontali a sezione ellittica, da coppie e schiere di cilindri orizzontali a sezione circolare; sia per fluidi convenzionali che per nanofluidi. La ricerca sulle schiere di tubi è rivolta all'individuazione delle mutue interazioni dei campi termofluidodinamici generati da ciascun elemento.
Studio numerico della trasmissione di calore in condizioni di convezione "mista" in prossimità di una piastra piana verticale investita ortogonalmente da un getto di aria fredda.
Studio sulla possibilità di individuare in modo semplice, veloce ed economico la presenza di mine anti-uomo negli strati più superficiali del terreno, mediante metodi di riscaldamento localizzato.
Studio del comportamento termico in regime transitorio di blocchi pieni, cavi ed isolati (mattoni per edilizia).
Analisi termoigrometrica degli involcri edilizi di edifici storici.
Analisi energetica a scala urbana e di quartiere per il recupero dei distretti industriali dismessi.

Progettazione di impianti di climatizzazione per edifici ad uso civile (uffici, centri commerciali, stadi del nuoto, ecc.); progettazione degli impianti meccanici ed elettrici per edifici ad uso residenziale; progettazione di impianti utilizzanti fonti rinnovabili (solare termico e solare fotovoltaici); progettazione degli involucri e dei sistemi energetici passivi per edifici ad uso residenziale ed uffici; diagnosi energetica e certificazione energetica di edifici ad uso residenziale.

Research Activities
Computation of free convection heat and mass transfer through control-volume formulation of the finite-difference method (pressure-velocity coupling handled by the SIMPLEC algorithm) for different heat transfer configurations, fluids and boundary conditions: inside cavities; from inclined plates; from elliptic horizontal tubes; from couples and arrays of horizontal circular cross section horizontal cylinders. The research on tube arrays has been aimed on finding out the mutual interactions of heat and mass flow fields originated by each element.
Computation of mixed convection heat and mass transfer for jets impinging on vertical hot plates.
Computation of conduction heat transfer in non homogeneous soils for detection of buried anti-personnel mines through active surface heating.
Analysis of transient heat transfer through hollow and insulated bricks, for the development of a simple computation method for non homogeneous building envelop under transient boundary conditions.
Thermo-hygrometric analysis of envelopes of historical buildings.
Urban and district energy analysis for the rehabilitation of disused industrial districts.
