Scientific Profile
Professor Panebianco has been a vital member of the several international scientific societies contributing significantly to the organization's guidelines and educational initiatives. She has served several times as a member of the scientific committee for the ECR and was involved as a subcommittee Chairperson for Genitourinary Radiology in 2024. Additionally, she has been a regular contributor to refresher courses at ECR and RSNA. She holds several prominent international roles, such as: Chairperson of the American College of Radiology VI-RADS Steering Committee, Member of the Communication and Interdisciplinary Affairs Committee of the ESR, Panel Member for the EAU Guidelines on Muscle-Invasive and Metastatic Bladder Cancer, and Vice-Chair of the Prostate MRI Working Group of the ESUR. Professor Panebianco has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed papers, with a primary focus on prostate and bladder cancer imaging. Recently her research emphasized the application of computational medicine to identify biomarkers tumor early detection, personalized therapy and monitoring, through the development of Digital Twin technologies. She has led position papers on MRI standardization, specifically for bladder cancer (VI-RADS – Vesical Imaging Reporting and Data System) and prostate cancer recurrence (PI-RR – Prostate MRI for Local Recurrence Reporting). Additionally, Professor Panebianco was appointed by the World Health Organization to contribute to the WHO Blue Book on Urinary Tumors. She organized the first national screening trial for early prostate cancer detection, known as “Prostate Cancer Secondary Screening in Sapienza”. In 2022, VP participated to the PI-CAI Challenge on ArtificialIntelligence for Prostate Cancer Detection in MRI as member of the Scientific Advisory Board.
