Curriculum
Luca Benvenuti was born in Rome, Italy, in 1966. He received the M.Sc. degree (summa cum laude) in electrical engineering and the Ph.D. degree in systems engineering from the Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy, in 1992 and 1996, respectively.
From 1997 to 1999, he held a postdoctoral position with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of L’Aquila, L’Aquila, Italy. He has worked as a Consultant forMagneti Marelli, for PARADES (Project on Advanced Research on Architectures and Design of Electronic Systems), a European Group of Economic Interest supported by Cadence, Magneti Marelli and ST Microelectronics, and for ALES (Advanced Laboratory for Embedded Systems), a research company of United Technologies Corporation.
He is currently a Full Professor of Automatic Control with the Department of Computer, Control, andManagement Engineering, Sapienza University of Rome.
His research interests include control of nonlinear systems, analysis and control of hybrid systems, positive linear systems, and modeling and optimization problems for nutrition.
Dr. Benvenuti was the co-recipient of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Guillemin-Cauer Best Paper Award in 2001 and the IFAC Congress Application Paper Prize in 2005. He co-chaired the First Multidisciplinary International Symposium on Positive Systems: Theory and Applications, held in Rome, Italy, in 2003, and was a plenary speaker at the Second Symposium, held in Grenoble, France, in 2006.
