Curriculum

Franco Mastroddi is full professor in Aerospace Structure at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, at Sapienza University of Rome and he is Chair of the Academic Council of Aerospace Engineering which presides over one three-year Bachelor Degree in Aerospace Engineering and two Master of Science Degrees (Aeronautical Engineering, Space and Astronautical Engineering). He is involved on teaching activity since 1996 and is actually teaching on the first and second level degrees with teaching assignments for courses in Aerospace structures, Aeronautical Structures, Aeroelasticity and Multidisciplinary aircraft design.

In May 1989 he obtained from Sapienza University of Rome a second level degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
Since March 1992 he was placed in the role of researchers in Aerospace Structures at the Faculty of Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome.
On February 1994 he defended his PhD thesis on Aerospace Engineering.
From November 1998, he was placed in the role of Associate Professor in Aerospace Structures, Faculty of Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome.
From September 2019, he is Full Professor in Aerospace Structures, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome.

He is currently involved in research activities on aeroelastic modelling for aircraft and launch vehicles, nonlinear dynamical systems and nonlinear aeroelasticity, dynamic and structural optimization, identification of aeroelastic systems, integrated multi-disciplinary optimization and multi-objective optimization. He is author and co-author of several papers presented at international conferences and published on referred journals. For many of these journals as Journal of Sounds and Vibration, Journal of Fluids and Structures, AIAA Journal, AIAA Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, Computers and Structures, CEAS Aeronautical Journal, CEAS Space Journal, Journal of Aerospace Science and Technology, Journal of Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, he lends function of referee.

His last 15-year experience on industrial R&D projects and European research projects (SLOWD, HASTA) includes collaborations with AVIO S.p.A., European Space Agency, AIRBUS O., and AIRBUS D&S, as principal investigator or collaborator on research activities on aeroelastic analyses of aircraft including fuel sloshing effects, Reduced Order Models for aeroelastic modelling, Multidisciplinary-Design Optimization, launch vehicle aeroelastic analyses and viscoelastic finite-element modelling.
