Pierfrancesco Reverberi, PhD, is Full Professor in Applied Economics at Sapienza Università di Roma. He is member of the Scientific Board of the PhD program “Industrial and Management Engineering” at Sapienza. He has been managing the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree courses in Management Engineering at Sapienza (2017-2020 and 2020-2023). He is or has been member of Società Italiana di Economia e Politica Industriale (SIEPI), Associazione italiana di Ingegneria Gestionale (AiIG), European Association for Research in Industrial Economics (EARIE), European Economic Association (EEA).
He teaches Industrial organization (since 1999–2000) and Economics of network industries (since 2008–2009) at Sapienza.
His research interests are in the field of industrial organization, particularly in the economics of privacy and in the economics of regulated industries (telecommunications, transport, and health). He has published several papers in relevant international journals, such as, among others, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Information Economics and Policy, Journal of Regulatory Economics, Economics Letters, Transportation Research A, Transportation Research B, Transportation Science, European Journal of Operational Research. Research results have been presented at several national and international conferences.
He has worked mainly as a local unit member, and sometimes as principal investigator, in several research projects funded by grants from firms and institutions, among which the European Union, the Italian Ministry of University and Research, the Italian National Regulatory Authority in electronic communications markets (AGCOM), and Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA. He has been member of the Advisory Board of Fondazione Ugo Bordoni (FUB), research institution in the field of ICT under the supervision of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.
He has been economic expert adviser on competition and regulation issues in telecommunications, for firms and institutions such as: Italian Government, Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA, Tiscali Italia SpA and AIIP (Associazione Italiana Internet Providers).
