Personal Statement
Prof. Carlo Presutti, has been working on regulation of RNA stability since 1986 at the Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology of University of Rome “La Sapienza”. After his return to Italy in 2001, he started his independent lab, working initially on yeast mRNAs decay and translation. Since 2005 he focused his studies first on the role of microRNAs in different types of mammalian cells and more recently on the characterization of Long Non Coding RNA (lncRNA) and circular RNA (circRNA). During the last few years he started different and fruitful collaborations with many research groups in Italy and abroad. His lab has now an established skillness in the characterization of expression pattern of microRNAs and ncRNAs, especially by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) microarray and q-PCR profiling. At the present the most important research lines of the Lab are:
-Role of non-coding RNAs in establishment and progression of melanoma
-Role of microRNAs in inflammation processes
-Non coding RNAs as biomarkers in different human pathologies
-Processing and stability of mRNAs in Central Nervous System
