Francesco Marra, PhD
Francesco Marra has been promoted to the position of Associate Professor in Materials Science and Technology (SSD ING-IND/22) at Sapienza University of Rome, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering - Department of Chemical Engineering, Materials, and Environment. He will begin his new position in February 2022, having previously served as an assistant professor since 2011. Currently, he teaches various courses, including "Surface and Thin Films Engineering and Nanostructured Materials," "Materials and Technologies," and "Nanoparticles Production and Nanomaterials Characterization" for the Nanotechnology Engineering and Industrial Design programs.
Marra's expertise in the field of materials science and technology is reflected in his publication record. He has authored and co-authored 62 papers in international and peer-reviewed journals, 4 chapters in books, and over 80 contributions to national and international congresses in the form of posters, oral presentations, and invited presentations. His research has primarily focused on surface engineering and thermal protection systems since 2006, especially on thermal sprayed and electroless coatings for wear, oxidation, and corrosion resistance, as well as materials for high temperature applications such as ablative thermal protections and thermal barrier coatings.
Marra has played a leading role in several research projects, including institutional and research grants from private companies, since 2011, with a total funding of around 3 Meuros.
