International

Students of the Mechanical Engineering degree program can take part in scholarships for exams and theses in European universities, according to Erasmus projects for study and Erasmus Traineeship

Minimum access requirement: registration with at least 40 credits.

In addition, the strong international vocation of the degree program is found in the possibility of a path entirely in English (mechanical engineering design) and 4 paths with the possibility of double degree with the following universities:

double Italian-American title New York University curriculum:
1. Automation
2. Management of industrial production

double Italian-American title Georgia Tech University curriculum:
1. Materials

double Italian-French title Pierre and Marie Curie University curriculum:
1. Computational Mechanics

For more information on the curricula see the training / attending course Area Council Manager of double-track routes:
- Prof.Eduardo Palermo (eduardo.palermo@uniroma1.it)

It is also possible to access an Italian-Venezuelan double title award for the curricula:
1. Mechanical design
2. Energy
3. Industrial production
4. Vehicles
5. Industrial design
6. General mechanics
7. Mechanical Engineering Design

General information and requirements to participate in the selection procedure

1 Students can gain information and start the formal candidacy procedures online through the websites indicated above.

2 Students must wait for the Faculty’s notice regarding the ERASMUS call for applications, which is published generally during the month of February of each academic year for outgoing students and regards the following academic year.

3 Students may choose foreign Institutions among those indicated by the Faculty, and preferably among those who have as their responsible Professor a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, therefor of the Mechanics and Metal Trades area and similar. The call for applications enables students to indicate in their application more than one institution. Nevertheless they must clearly indicate the institutions in order of preference.

4 Students must make sure that they have the language level required by the institution(s) in which they are interested, which is indicated in the list of institutions.

5 Students must draft their Learning Agreement (LA) form, which corresponds to the training project that they must attend abroad: through the LA students select the exams that they want to take at foreign institutions. They must also indicate the corresponding exams of their study plan that are replaced by the ones they will take at foreign institutions. Students must draft a Learning Agreement for each of the institutions that they have chosen. The choices are made independently by the student, but must be approved by the RAM (International Mobility Academic Managers) of Mechanical Engineering.

6 Hand-in the application, the Learning Agreement and all of the documents required by the call for applications to the ERASMUS office of the Faculty, within the established deadline.

7 Wait for the outcome of the competition.

Drafting the Learning Agreement

Students must draft this document before handing in their candidacy for the call for applications. If they win the competition they must hand-in also a final form.

When drafting the LA, students must keep in mind that the Mechanical Engineering Committee does not award more than 30 ECTS for exams and laboratories attended at foreign Universities during an Erasmus exchange, which correspond to the average workload of a semester of studies. If the student stays abroad longer to prepare his/her Masters thesis at a foreign University, he/she may acquire an additional 15 ECTS.

The subjects chosen at foreign universities do not necessarily have to match the Italian ones completely in their contents and title.

The RAM for Mechanical Engineering evaluates the overall cultural congruence of the training project proposed by the student through the Learning Agreement and is available to provide advice and guidance to the students before they hand-in their Learning Agreements to the ERASMUS office of the Faculty. To avail themselves of this service, students must book an appointment.

To draft the curricular project (Learning Agreement) that will be carried out at the partner University, students must consult the information available on the websites of the host institutions before drafting the application (such as the min and / or max number of credits to be achieved, possibility of taking exams outside the receiving Faculty, language requirements, dead-lines for sending the documentation, etc ...)

ERASMUS scholarship winners

1 ERASMUS scholarship winners must complete the enrolment procedure at the receiving University by sending all of the documents requested by. These requirements may be found on the host institution’s website.

2 If the student discovers when he arrives at the host institution that one or more courses indicated in his/her Learning Agreement is not provided for some reason, he/she can contact via e-mail the president of the Study Programme to propose changes that the student may inserts in the CF (Change Form) once they approved verbally.

3. When the student returns to his/her home institution he/she must send his/her Transcript to the RAM via email. On the basis of this documents and the current regulations, the RAM of Mechanical Engineering informs the student with which grades the Italian subjects indicated in the LA (which may have been modified by the CF) may be registered.
