Ofa: methods of fulfilling additional training obligations

Students who have received a grade lower than ten and have not scored exactly in the subjects of biology and biochemistry, obtaining grades of eleven and seven respectively, are required to complete additional training (OFA).
Methods for completing the training:
The additional educational obligations (OFA) are considered fulfilled by passing - the remedial test (OFA test) or alternatively - the curriculum exam provided by each course of study. The procedures for preparing for the remedial tests will be communicated later.
In the event that the student does not fulfill the OFA - by choosing one of the two above-mentioned methods - they will not be allowed to take the exams for subsequent years after the first, starting from the 2026-2027 academic year.

Other training activities that award credits

Students are required to earn university educational credits (Cfu) by participating in elective educational activities, seminar lectures, and professional workshops. The activities included in these programs are part of the student's educational path.

Apprenticeship

The practical technical internship is carried out under the direct responsibility of the Director of Studies, appointed through a competitive process among the employees of the Health Authority in whose territory the degree program is located. In organizing and implementing the internship, the Director of Studies takes into account the principles set forth in the July 2025 document, revised by the Permanent Conference of the Bachelor's and Master's Degree Programs in the Health Professions. The internship, a fundamental activity of the student, is carried out in healthcare facilities affiliated with Sapienza University and with healthcare entities with which the degree program and, on its behalf, the Faculty have signed agreements. Within these facilities and throughout the entire training program, students are supported by a tutor with expertise in the profession who will ensure that the knowledge is acquired, that the students are able to integrate into the environment, and that they are able to implement what they have learned through learning.

Graduate

To obtain the Degree, the student must pass a final examination, which consists of: a) a practical test, in which the student must demonstrate that they have acquired the fundamental theoretical and practical skills specific to their professional profile; b) the preparation of a dissertation, under the guidance of a supervising professor, and its defense. The thesis, concerning topics or disciplines closely related to the professional profile, can have a research, technical-applied, or compilative nature.

In order to be allowed to take the final examination (Degree exam), the student must have passed all the course exams, completed the required hours of internship attendance, and passed the related exams.

Both stages of the final examination will take place in front of a Committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty and composed in accordance with the law, in compliance with the University Academic Regulations and the academic regulations of the Faculty and Degree Program. The degree exam has the value of a state exam qualifying for the profession.

Students take the final exam after having passed the exams required by the study program.
During the academic year, there are two exam sessions, called the first and second session.
Students – during the preparation of their thesis – are supervised by professors from the degree course.

Tutoring

Sapienza offers an academic tutoring service that is divided into orientation tutoring and educational tutoring. The service is carried out by students who win the collaboration grant contract. This activity is complemented by that of the professors, to whom students ask for clarifications on lecture topics.

Path of excellence

The Path of Excellence is a voluntary training program focused on a research project. The program is not open to undergraduate students
