Course objectives

The orthopedic technician is the health worker who, in possession of the qualifying university diploma, on medical prescription and subsequent testing, operates the construction and / or adaptation, application and supply of prostheses, orthoses and replacement, corrective and support aids to the 'locomotor system, of a functional and aesthetic nature, of a mechanical type or which use external energy or mixed body and external energy, through direct detection of measures and models on the patient. The orthopedic technician, within his / her own competences: a) trains the disabled person to use prostheses and applied orthoses. Carries out, in collaboration with the doctor, technical assistance for the supply, replacement and repair of prostheses and applied orthoses; b) collaborates with other professional figures in the multidisciplinary treatment envisaged in the rehabilitation plan; c) is responsible for the organization, planning and quality of the professional acts carried out within the scope of his / her duties. The orthopedic technician carries out his professional activity in health facilities, public or private, in an addictive or freelance regime than with the public. · Acquire an analysis method that allows you to continue an independent study and professional updating.
